If you turn your foot because of the Sabbath, from doing what you please on My holy days, and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of Jehovah, honorable; and shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words,


So says Jehovah, Take heed to yourselves, and carry no burden on the Sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem.


But if you will not listen to me to keep the Sabbath day holy, and not to carry a burden, even entering in at the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day; then I will kindle a fire in its gates, and it will devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it will not be put out.


And behold, a man having a withered hand. And they asked Him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbaths? This so that they might accuse Him.


And the Pharisees said to Him, Behold, why do they do that which is not lawful on the sabbath day?


And He said to them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? To save life, or to kill? But they were silent.


And answering, the synagogue ruler, being angry because Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, said to the crowd, There are six days in which it is right to work. Therefore in them come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.


And they returned and they prepared spices and ointment. And they rested on the sabbath day according to the commandment.


And certain of the Pharisees said to them, Why do you do that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath days?


And this is the witness of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who are you?


He answered them, He who made me whole said to me, Take up your bed and walk.


The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him whole.


And therefore the Jews persecuted Jesus and sought to kill Him, because He had done these things on the sabbath day.


If a man receives circumcision on the sabbath day so that the Law of Moses should not be broken, are you angry at Me because I have made a man entirely sound on the sabbath day?


Therefore some of the Pharisees said, This man is not from God, because he does not keep the sabbath. Others said, How can a man, a sinner, do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
