Far be it from You to act in this manner, to kill the righteous with the wicked. And far be it from You, that the righteous should be as the wicked. Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?


O Jehovah, the God of Israel, You are righteous. For we are left a remnant that has escaped, as today. Behold, we are before You in our sins, for we cannot stand before You because of this.


But You are just in all that is brought upon us, for You have done right, but we have done wickedly.


The tents of robbers are at peace, and those who provoke God are secure, in whatever God brings to their hand.


Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to argue my case before God.


Men groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded cries for help; yet God does not charge foolishness.


He gives safety to him, and he rests on it; yet His eyes are on their ways.


His roots are wrapped around the heap, and he sees the place of stones.


Gracious is Jehovah, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.


TZADDI: You are righteous, O Jehovah, and Your judgments are right.


I know, O Jehovah, that Your judgments are right, and that You have afflicted me in faithfulness.


Jehovah is righteous in all His ways and holy in all His works.

I have seen the wicked ruthless, and spreading himself like a luxuriant native tree.


Against You, You only, have I sinned, and done evil in Your sight; that You might be justified when You speak, and be clear when You judge.


Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts; and in the hidden part You shall make me to know wisdom.


When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity blossom, it is that they shall be destroyed forever;


For the turning away of the simple kills them, and the ease of fools destroys them.


There is a vanity which is done on the earth: There are just ones to whom it happens according to the work of the wicked; again, there are wicked ones to whom it happens according to the work of the righteous. I said that this also is vanity.


Bring near your cause, says Jehovah; bring out your strong reasons, says the King of Jacob.


Yea, you did not hear; yea, you did not know; yea, from the time that your ear was not opened; for I surely know that you will betray and trespass; from the womb it was called to you.


But, O Jehovah of Hosts who judges rightly, who tries the heart and the mind, let me see Your vengeance on them. For to You I have revealed my cause.


For even your brothers and the house of your father, even they have dealt treacherously with you. Yea, they have called a multitude after you. Do not believe them, though they speak good things to you.


Surely as a wife treacherously departs from her husband, so you have dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, says Jehovah.


And I said after she had done all these things, Turn to Me! But she did not return. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it.


And after I gave the purchase document to Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed to Jehovah, saying,


For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very deceitfully against Me, says Jehovah.


Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place for traveling men, that I might leave my people and go away from them! For they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.


Jehovah is righteous, for I have rebelled against His command. I beseech you, all peoples, hear and behold my sorrow. My virgins and my young men went into exile.


Yet you say, The way of Jehovah is not fair. Hear now, O house of Israel: Is not My way fair? Are your ways not unfair?


Therefore Jehovah has watched over the evil, and has brought it on us. For Jehovah our God is righteous in all His works which He does; for we did not obey His voice.


O Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but to us the shame of our faces, as it is today to the men of Judah and to the people of Jerusalem, and to all Israel who are near and who are afar off, through all the countries where You have driven them because of their sin which they have sinned against You.


But, like Adam, they have broken the covenant. They have acted like traitors against Me there.


Therefore the law has become helpless, and justice does not always go forth. For the wicked entraps the righteous; therefore justice goes forth, being perverted.


The just Jehovah is in her midst; He will not act perversely. Every morning He gives His justice to the light; He fails not; but the perverse knows no shame.


You have wearied Jehovah with your words. Yet you say, In what have we wearied Him? When you say, Every evildoer is good in the eyes of Jehovah, and He delights in them; or, Where is the God of justice?


And now we are calling the arrogant blessed. Not only are the doers of wickedness built up, they also test God, and escape.


He is the Rock; His work is perfect. For all His ways are just, a God of faithfulness, and without evil; just and upright is He.
