And I will make you swear by Jehovah, the God of Heaven and the God of the earth, that you shall not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell.


And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth. If Jacob takes a wife of the daughters of Heth, like these of the daughters of the land, what good is my life to me?


and when Esau saw that the daughters of Canaan did not please Isaac his father;


then Esau went to Ishmael, and took Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham's son, the sister of Nebajoth, to the wives which he had for his wife.

And Oholibamah bore Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah. These were the sons of Esau who were born to him in the land of Canaan.


and lest you take from their daughters for your sons, and their daughters go whoring after their gods and make your sons go whoring after their gods.


But, because of the fornications, let each have his own wife, and let each have her own husband.


(lest there be any fornicator, or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright.
