5 as also the high priest bears witness to me, and all the elderhood. And receiving letters from them to the brothers, I traveled into Damascus indeed to lead those being bound to Jerusalem, in order that they might be punished.

And when day came, the body of elders of the people, and the chief priests and the scribes, came together. And they led Him to the sanhedrin, saying,


And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples and said, (the number of names together was about a hundred and twenty,)


Men, brothers, sons of the race of Abraham, and whoever among you fears God, the Word of this salvation is sent to you.


Men, brothers, it is permitted to say to you with plainness as to the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.


Men, brothers and fathers! Hear my defense now to you.


And looking earnestly on the sanhedrin, Paul said, Men, brothers, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.


But when Paul saw that the one part were Sadducees and the other part Pharisees, he cried out in the sanhedrin, Men! Brothers! I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee! I am being judged because of the hope and resurrection of the dead.


which I also did in Jerusalem. And I shut up many of the saints in prisons, having received authority from the chief priests. And they being put to death, I cast a vote.


And I punished them often in every synagogue; I compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly furious against them, I persecuted them even to the outside cities.


In which pursuit also traveling to Damascus with authority and power of decision from the chief priests,


And after three days it happened that Paul called together those being chief of the Jews. And they coming together, he said to them, Men, brothers, I did nothing against the people or customs of our fathers. I was delivered a prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans


And they said to him, We neither received letters out of Judea concerning you, nor have any of the brothers who came declared or spoke anything evil of you.


And now, brothers, I know that you did it through ignorance, as also your rulers did.


And it happened on the next day that their rulers and elders and scribes, gathered to Jerusalem,


And hearing, they went into the temple about dawn, and taught. But the high priest came, and those with him. And they called the sanhedrin together, and all the elderhood of the sons of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.


And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your Name.


For you heard my manner of life when I was in Judaism, that I persecuted the church of God with surpassing zeal, and ravaged it.


concerning zeal, persecuting the church; regarding the righteousness in the Law, blameless.


Do not neglect the gift in you, which was given you by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the body of elders.
