This is the Word that came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, after Nebuzaradan the chief of the executioners had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him, being bound in chains, among all the captives of Jerusalem and Judah, who were being exiled to Babylon.


And now, behold, I set you free today from the chains on your hand. If it seems good to you to come with me into Babylon, come. And I will keep my eye on you. But if it seems evil to you to come with me into Babylon, stay. Behold, all the land is before you. Wherever it seems good and pleasing for you to go, go there.


And the keepers shook for fear of him and became like dead men.


Then, indeed, Peter was kept in prison. But earnest prayer was made to God for him by the church.


Then going near, the chiliarch laid hold on him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains. And he demanded who he was and what he had done.


For this cause, then, I called for you, to see and to speak with you. For I have this chain around me for the hope of Israel.


saying, We indeed found the prison shut with all safety, and the keepers standing outside in front of the doors. But having opened it, we found no one inside.


for which I am an ambassador in bonds; so that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.


I said I would dash them to pieces; I would make the memory of them to cease from among men,


May the Lord give mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chain.


so that we may boldly say, "The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do to me."
