And Laban said to him, Surely you are my bone and my flesh. And he stayed with him for a month.


And Absalom made Amasa captain of the army instead of Joab. This Amasa was the son of a man named Ithra, an Israelite, who went in to Abigail the daughter of Nahash, sister to Zeruiah, Joab's mother.


And Joab said to the man who told him, And, behold, you saw him, and why did you not strike him there to the ground? And I would have given you ten shekels of silver and a girdle.


And the king said to Amasa, gather to me the men of Judah within three days, and you be present here.


And Abner returned to Hebron. And Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him privately. And he struck him there in the belly, and he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.


And all the tribes of Israel came to David, to Hebron, and spoke, saying, Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.


And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army. And Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder.


And Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I do not make your life like the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.
