Then David said to the messenger, So you shall say to Joab, Do not let this thing displease you, for the sword devours one as well as another. Make your battle stronger against the city and overthrow it. And you encourage him.


And now I have come to speak of this thing to my lord the king, because the people have made me afraid. And your handmaid said, I will now speak to the king. It may be that the king will do what his handmaid has asked.


And for this I will afflict the seed of David, but not forever.


If a man die, shall he revive? All the days of my warfare I will wait, until my change comes.


For I know that You will bring me to death, and to the house appointed for all living.


all flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again to dust.


How much less to Him who does not lift up the face of rulers, nor regard the rich before the poor? For all of them are the work of His hands.


I am poured out like water, and all My bones are spread apart; My heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of My bowels.


My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and My tongue clings to My jaws;


Let them melt away like waters; they run off to them; he bends his arrows, let them be as though they were cut off.


Is His mercy gone forever? Has His Word failed for all generations?


They have shed their blood like water round about Jerusalem, and none to bury.


The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by strength they are fourscore years, yet their pride is labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.


You turn man to dust, and say, Return, sons of men.


And if a man does not lie in wait, but God delivers him into his hand, then I will appoint you a place where he shall flee.


For the living know that they shall die; but the dead do not know anything, nor do they have any more a reward; for their memory is forgotten.

For there is no respect of faces with God.


For Jehovah your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, the mighty, and a terrible God, who does not respect persons nor take a bribe.


And as it is appointed to men once to die, but after this the judgment,


And if you call on the Father, who without respect of persons judges according to the work of each one, pass the time of your earthly residence in fear,
