Because Manasseh king of Judah has done these abominations, doing more wickedly than all that the Amorites did, who were before him, and has made Judah also to sin with his idols,


because they have done the evil in My sight, and have provoked Me to anger, since the day their fathers came forth out of Egypt even until this day.


And he did the evil in the sight of Jehovah, after the abominations of the heathen whom Jehovah cast out before the sons of Israel.


And he set a graven image of the Asherah which he had made in the house, of which Jehovah had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put My name forever.


But he clung to the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin. He did not depart from them.


And Manasseh made Judah and the people of Jerusalem to err, to do worse than the nations whom Jehovah had destroyed before the sons of Israel.


And Moses said to Aaron, What did this people do to you, that you have brought so great a sin upon them?


These six Jehovah hates; yea, seven are hateful to his soul:


a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,


And I will make them a horror to all kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah, king of Judah, for what he did in Jerusalem.


Because they have forsaken Me, and have made this place famous and have burned incense in it to other gods whom neither they nor their fathers have known, nor the kings of Judah, and have filled this place with the blood of innocents.


Also in your skirts is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocents; I did not find them by breaking in, but on all these.


For this city has been to Me as a cause of My anger and of My fury from the day that they built it even to this day; that I should remove it from before My face;


if you do not oppress the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, nor walk after other gods to your hurt;


And you, son of man, will you judge, will you judge the bloody city? And you shall make her know all her abominations.


You are guilty in your blood that you have shed; and you have defiled yourself in your idols you have made. And your days are brought near, and have come to your years. Therefore I have made you a reproach to the nations, and a mocking to all lands.


And as righteous men, they shall judge them with the judgment of adulteresses, and the judgment of women who shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands.


And He said to me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is great, and the land is full of blood, and the city is full of perversity. For they say, Jehovah has forsaken the land; and, Jehovah does not see.


So you shall not defile the land in which you are. For blood defiles the land. And the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed in it, except by the blood of him that shed it.


And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.


Jerusalem! Jerusalem! the one killing the prophets, and stoning those having been sent to her; how often I desired to gather your children in the way a hen gathers her brood under the wings, and you did not desire it.


They were stoned, they were sawed in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented.
