Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: Neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.


The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, And the tongue that speaketh proud things:


Let the lying lips be put to silence; Which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.


My soul is among lions: And I lie even among them that are set on fire, Even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.


The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: But the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.


He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: But he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.


Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: But much increase is by the strength of the ox.


A fool's lips enter into contention, And his mouth calleth for strokes.


A fool's mouth is his destruction, And his lips are the snare of his soul.


Proud and haughty scorner is his name, Who dealeth in proud wrath.


He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: And the rod of his anger shall fail.


He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: But he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.

For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.

Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.


Talk no more so exceeding proudly; Let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: For the LORD is a God of knowledge, And by him actions are weighed.
