The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.


to whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.


Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying,


the word of the LORD came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the LORD was there upon him.


Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,


The word of the LORD that came to Micah the Morasthite in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem.


The word of the LORD which came unto Zephaniah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hizkiah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah.


And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?


Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,


As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, Which shall prepare thy way before thee.


And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.


He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.


Now Annas had sent him bound unto Caiaphas the high priest.


and Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.
