And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking.


And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.


And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Beth-el. And Elisha said unto him, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Beth-el.


So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake.


but they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.


Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.


But now they that are younger than I have me in derision, Whose fathers I would have disdained to have set with the dogs of my flock.


Let me not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee: Let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave.


Let the lying lips be put to silence; Which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.


But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: Yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:


Even a child is known by his doings, Whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.


Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; But the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.


Train up a child in the way he should go: And when he is old, he will not depart from it.


Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.


Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.


And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.


O LORD, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived: thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocketh me.


For since I spake, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the LORD was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily.


The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.


So shall Beth-el do unto you because of your great wickedness: in a morning shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off.


The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the calves of Beth-aven: for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof that rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it.


Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Beth-aven, nor swear, The LORD liveth.


And the man whose hair is fallen off his head, he is bald; yet is he clean.


that in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him I will also visit the altars of Beth-el: and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.


Come to Beth-el, and transgress; at Gilgal multiply transgression; and bring your sacrifices every morning, and your tithes after three years:


but seek not Beth-el, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beer-sheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Beth-el shall come to nought.


but prophesy not again any more at Beth-el: for it is the king's chapel, and it is the king's court.


But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.


and others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
