And Jeho´ash king of Judah took all the hallowed things that Jehosh´aphat, and Jeho´ram, and Ahazi´ah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own hallowed things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of the Lord, and in the king's house, and sent it to Haz´a-el king of Syria: and he went away from Jerusalem.


And they buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done good in Israel, both toward God, and toward his house.


And they left the house of the Lord God of their fathers, and served groves and idols: and wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this their trespass.


He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.


A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.


As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honor to a fool.


If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.


A man that flattereth his neighbor spreadeth a net for his feet.


But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.


And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.


And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished.


For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the Lord; and how much more after my death?


Moreover I will endeavor that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.


And it came to pass, as soon as Gideon was dead, that the children of Israel turned again, and went a whoring after Ba´alim, and made Ba´al–be´rith their god.
