Let it rest on the head of Jo´ab; and on all his father's house; and let there not fail from the house of Jo´ab one that hath an issue, or that is a leper, or that leaneth on a staff, or that falleth on the sword, or that lacketh bread.


And the Lord shall return his blood upon his own head, who fell upon two men more righteous and better than he, and slew them with the sword, my father David not knowing thereof, to wit, Abner the son of Ner, captain of the host of Israel, and Ama´sa the son of Jether, captain of the host of Judah.


but when Esther came before the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked device, which he devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.


His work is honorable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever.


Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again.


They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness.


And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.


Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High:


but thou, Lord, art most high for evermore.


The Lord hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly showed in the sight of the heathen.


This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.


that they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.


And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnez´zar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the Most High, and I praised and honored him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:


Howbeit the Most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,


that the cruelty done to the threescore and ten sons of Jerubba´al might come, and their blood be laid upon Abim´elech their brother, which slew them, and upon the men of Shechem, which aided him in the killing of his brethren.


and all the evil of the men of Shechem did God render upon their heads: and upon them came the curse of Jotham the son of Jerubba´al.
