And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and said, because he had defiled Dinah their sister:


Then said Ab´salom, If not, I pray thee, let my brother Amnon go with us. And the king said unto him, Why should he go with thee?


But Ab´salom pressed him, that he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him.


And Jo´ab said to Ama´sa, Art thou in health, my brother? And Jo´ab took Ama´sa by the beard with the right hand to kiss him.


that Sanbal´lat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.


The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:


Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbors, but mischief is in their hearts.


And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it.


He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.


A false balance is abomination to the Lord: but a just weight is his delight.


He that speaketh truth showeth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.


Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counselors of peace is joy.


The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.


The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.


for as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.


Take ye heed every one of his neighbor, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will walk with slanders.


And Saul said to David, Behold my elder daughter Merab, her will I give thee to wife: only be thou valiant for me, and fight the Lord's battles. For Saul said, Let not mine hand be upon him, but let the hand of the Philistines be upon him.
