But if ye say unto me, We trust in the Lord our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezeki´ah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?


And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord, that they offered seven bullocks and seven rams.


And they brought seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven he goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom, and for the sanctuary, and for Judah. And he commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of the Lord.


Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.


An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.


The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.


And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.


And seven days of the feast he shall prepare a burnt offering to the Lord, seven bullocks and seven rams without blemish daily the seven days; and a kid of the goats daily for a sin offering.


And it came to pass on the morrow, that Balak took Ba´laam, and brought him up into the high places of Ba´al, that thence he might see the utmost part of the people.


And Balak did as Ba´laam had spoken; and Balak and Ba´laam offered on every altar a bullock and a ram.


And Ba´laam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams.


And Balak did as Ba´laam had said, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.


And on the seventh day seven bullocks, two rams, and fourteen lambs of the first year without blemish:


But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.


Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Ba´laam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Korah.


And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
