So they came and called unto the porter of the city: and they told them, saying, We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, neither voice of man, but horses tied, and asses tied, and the tents as they were.


All the Levites in the holy city were two hundred fourscore and four.


And the residue of Israel, of the priests, and the Levites, were in all the cities of Judah, every one in his inheritance.


Mattani´ah, and Bakbuki´ah, Obadi´ah, Meshul´lam, Talmon, Akkub, were porters keeping the ward at the threshholds of the gates.


The porters: the children of Shallum, the children of Ater, the children of Talmon, the children of Akkub, the children of Hati´ta, the children of Sho´bai, a hundred thirty and eight.


For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
