Yet many years didst thou forbear them, and testifiedst against them by thy Spirit in thy prophets: yet would they not give ear: therefore gavest thou them into the hands of the people of the lands.


and the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them.


O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!


Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.


And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled.


Having yet therefore one son, his well-beloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.


But I say unto you, That Eli´jah is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him.


Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
