Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.


My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.


Thou, which hast showed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth.


Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, and thou hast afflicted me with all thy waves. Selah.


He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.


Then took they Jeremiah, and cast him into the dungeon of Malchi´ah the son of Ham´melech, that was in the court of the prison: and they let down Jeremiah with cords. And in the dungeon there was no water, but mire: so Jeremiah sunk in the mire.


even men, and women, and children, and the king's daughters, and every person that Neb´uzar–a´dan the captain of the guard had left with Gedali´ah the son of Ahi´kam the son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch the son of Neri´ah.


For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt; I am black; astonishment hath taken hold on me.
