And their possessions and habitations were, Beth–el and the towns thereof, and eastward Na´aran, and westward Gezer, with the towns thereof; Shechem also and the towns thereof, unto Gaza and the towns thereof:


And they departed from the mountains of Ab´arim, and pitched in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho.


and the border went out toward the sea to Mich´methah on the north side; and the border went about eastward unto Ta´anath–shi´loh, and passed by it on the east to Jano´hah;


that the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon a heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zar´etan; and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho.


Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.


And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before the Lord, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.
