and set two men, sons of Be´li-al, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die.


I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the Most High.


Bring forth him that hath cursed without the camp; and let all that heard him lay their hands upon his head, and let all the congregation stone him.


And he that blasphemeth the name of the Lord, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the Lord, shall be put to death.


Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.


Jesus answered them, Many good works have I showed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?


The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.


Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.


Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
