And king Rehobo´am took counsel with the old men that had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, What counsel give ye me to return answer to this people?


With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.


Lo, mine eye hath seen all this, mine ear hath heard and understood it.


With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.


which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hid it:


Knowest thou not this of old, since man was placed upon earth,


We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.


The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth.


Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land. Hath this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers?


For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.


Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.


Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will show thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee.


For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it?
