Behold, he is hid now in some pit, or in some other place: and it will come to pass, when some of them be overthrown at the first, that whosoever heareth it will say, There is a slaughter among the people that follow Ab´salom.


But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcass trodden under feet.


of whom the world was not worthy: they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.


And the hand of Mid´i-an prevailed against Israel: and because of the Mid´i-anites the children of Israel made them the dens which are in the mountains, and caves, and strongholds.


When the men of Israel saw that they were in a strait, (for the people were distressed,) then the people did hide themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in high places, and in pits.

And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet: and David and his men remained in the sides of the cave.
