The hay appeareth, and the tender grass showeth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered.


Therefore I will bewail with the weeping of Jazer the vine of Sibmah: I will water thee with my tears, O Heshbon, and Ele-a´leh: for the shouting for thy summer fruits and for thy harvest is fallen.


As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah, to serve the Chalde´ans, which will come unto us: but ye, gather ye wine, and summer fruits, and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.


Moreover Jo´hanan the son of Kare´ah, and all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, came to Gedali´ah to Mizpah,


Then Ish´ma-el carried away captive all the residue of the people that were in Mizpah, even the king's daughters, and all the people that remained in Mizpah, whom Neb´uzar–a´dan the captain of the guard had committed to Gedali´ah the son of Ahi´kam: and Ish´ma-el the son of Nethani´ah carried them away captive, and departed to go over to the Ammonites.


But Jo´hanan the son of Kare´ah, and all the captains of the forces, took all the remnant of Judah, that were returned from all nations, whither they had been driven, to dwell in the land of Judah;


But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.


My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and upon every high hill: yea, my flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and none did search or seek after them.
