When To´i king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadade´zer,


And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharva´im, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.


And Pha´raoh–ne´choh put him in bands at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and put the land to a tribute of a hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.


So they took the king, and brought him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah; and they gave judgment upon him.


Wherefore the Lord brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, which took Manas´seh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon.


All thy rulers are fled together, they are bound by the archers: all that are found in thee are bound together, which have fled from far.


And afterward, saith the Lord, I will deliver Zedeki´ah king of Judah, and his servants, and the people, and such as are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadrez´zar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those that seek their life: and he shall smite them with the edge of the sword; he shall not spare them, neither have pity, nor have mercy.


And as the evil figs, which cannot be eaten, they are so evil; surely thus saith the Lord, So will I give Zedeki´ah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, that remain in this land, and them that dwell in the land of Egypt:


but if thou wilt not go forth to the king of Babylon's princes, then shall this city be given into the hand of the Chalde´ans, and they shall burn it with fire, and thou shalt not escape out of their hand.


So they shall bring out all thy wives and thy children to the Chalde´ans: and thou shalt not escape out of their hand, but shalt be taken by the hand of the king of Babylon: and thou shalt cause this city to be burned with fire.


even a full wind from those places shall come unto me: now also will I give sentence against them.


Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will give Pha´raoh–hoph´ra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of them that seek his life; as I gave Zedeki´ah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadrez´zar king of Babylon, his enemy, and that sought his life.


Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad; for they have heard evil tidings: they are faint-hearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet.


Judah is gone into captivity because of affliction, and because of great servitude: she dwelleth among the heathen, she findeth no rest: all her persecutors overtook her between the straits.


The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of the Lord, was taken in their pits, of whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live among the heathen.


And they shall come against thee with chariots, wagons, and wheels, and with an assembly of people, which shall set against thee buckler and shield and helmet round about: and I will set judgment before them, and they shall judge thee according to their judgments.


They are terrible and dreadful: their judgment and their dignity shall proceed of themselves.


So they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath.


and the land of the Giblites, and all Lebanon toward the sunrising, from Ba´al–gad under mount Hermon unto the entering into Hamath.


about forty thousand prepared for war passed over before the Lord unto battle, to the plains of Jericho.


And the children of Israel encamped in Gilgal, and kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the month at even in the plains of Jericho.


namely, five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sido´nians, and the Hivites that dwelt in mount Lebanon, from mount Ba´al–her´mon unto the entering in of Hamath.
