but made his own people to go forth like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.


unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.


and he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools, if it be a son, then ye shall kill him; but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.


And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.


And the children of Israel journeyed from Ram´eses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children.


And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage.


And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.


and they said unto them, The Lord look upon you, and judge; because ye have made our savor to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to slay us.


Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the Lord; I remember thee, the kindness of thy youth, the love of thine espousals, when thou wentest after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown.


And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face.


I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.


And they departed from the mount of the Lord three days' journey: and the ark of the covenant of the Lord went before them in the three days' journey, to search out a resting place for them.


And the Lord said, I have pardoned according to thy word:


Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.


The Lord your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;


who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to show you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.


For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the Lord your God giveth you.


For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the Lord thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.


who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end;


Remember the word which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, saying, The Lord your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land.
