And the rest of the acts of Hezeki´ah, and all his might, and how he made a pool, and a conduit, and brought water into the city, are they not written in the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah?


And the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled by night by the way of the gate between two walls, which is by the king's garden: (now the Chaldees were against the city round about:) and the king went the way toward the plain.


but I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.


After him repaired Nehemi´ah the son of Azbuk, the ruler of the half part of Beth–zur, unto the place over against the sepulchres of David, and to the pool that was made, and unto the house of the mighty.


At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.


And ye have numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses have ye broken down to fortify the wall.


Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!


Hast thou not heard long ago, how I have done it; and of ancient times, that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste defensed cities into ruinous heaps.


Then said the Lord unto Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and She´ar–ja´shub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, in the highway of the fuller's field;


And I will wait upon the Lord, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.


And it came to pass, that when Zedeki´ah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king's garden, by the gate betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.


Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.
