And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.


And they knew not that Joseph understood them; for he spake unto them by an interpreter.


And Joseph said unto his brethren, I am Joseph; doth my father yet live? And his brethren could not answer him; for they were troubled at his presence.


And when Joseph's brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him.


And the Lord shall return his blood upon his own head, who fell upon two men more righteous and better than he, and slew them with the sword, my father David not knowing thereof, to wit, Abner the son of Ner, captain of the host of Israel, and Ama´sa the son of Jether, captain of the host of Judah.


Their blood shall therefore return upon the head of Jo´ab, and upon the head of his seed for ever: but upon David, and upon his seed, and upon his house, and upon his throne, shall there be peace for ever from the Lord.


Thus Jo´ash the king remembered not the kindness which Jehoi´ada his father had done to him, but slew his son. And when he died, he said, The Lord look upon it, and require it.


When he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth them: he forgetteth not the cry of the humble.


When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
