And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Mid´i-an, and Ishbak, and Shu´ah.


And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ish´maelites came from Gil´e-ad, with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.


And the Mid´i-anites sold him into Egypt unto Pot´iphar, an officer of Pharaoh's, and captain of the guard.


And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Pot´iphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ish´maelites, which had brought him down thither.


for indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.


And when Joseph's brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him.


He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant:


Do unto them as unto the Mid´i-anites; as to Sis´era, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:


Now the priest of Mid´i-an had seven daughters: and they came and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father's flock.


And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.


The multitude of camels shall cover thee, the dromedaries of Mid´i-an and Ephah; all they from Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense; and they shall show forth the praises of the Lord.


So they drew up Jeremiah with cords, and took him up out of the dungeon: and Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.


And if it be from five years old even unto twenty years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male twenty shekels, and for the female ten shekels.


And the name of the Mid´i-anitish woman that was slain was Cozbi, the daughter of Zur; he was head over a people, and of a chief house in Mid´i-an.


Vex the Mid´i-anites, and smite them:


and said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.


Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value;


And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,


Then the men of Israel said unto Gideon, Rule thou over us, both thou, and thy son, and thy son's son also: for thou hast delivered us from the hand of Mid´i-an.


And Gideon said unto them, I would desire a request of you, that ye would give me every man the earrings of his prey. (For they had golden earrings, because they were Ish´maelites.)
