Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.


And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem.


And as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan in the way, when yet there was but a little way to come unto Ephrath: and I buried her there in the way of Ephrath; the same is Bethlehem.


And he said unto him, Go in peace. So he departed from him a little way.


And when Azu´bah was dead, Caleb took unto him Ephrath, which bare him Hur.


Lo, we heard of it at Eph´ratah: we found it in the fields of the wood.


But thou, Bethlehem Eph´ratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

In Ramah was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.


Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.


And the name of the man was Elim´elech, and the name of his wife Na-o´mi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chil´i-on, Eph´rathites of Beth–lehem–judah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there.


And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The Lord make the woman that is come into thine house like Rachel and like Le´ah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Eph´ratah, and be famous in Bethlehem:


When thou art departed from me today, then thou shalt find two men by Rachel's sepulchre in the border of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will say unto thee, The asses which thou wentest to seek are found: and, lo, thy father hath left the care of the asses, and sorroweth for you, saying, What shall I do for my son?


And about the time of her death the women that stood by her said unto her, Fear not; for thou hast borne a son. But she answered not, neither did she regard it.
