Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.


And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name; and he called his name Israel.


And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Pa´dan–a´ram, and blessed him.


And Eli´jah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the Lord came, saying, Israel shall be thy name:


Unto this day they do after the former manners. They fear not the Lord, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the Lord commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;


And Abraham begat Isaac. The sons of Isaac; Esau and Israel.


Canst thou by searching find out God? Canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection?


Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? Who hath gathered the wind in his fists? Who hath bound the waters in a garment? Who hath established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?


For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.


Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.


And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh unto the king of Edom, Thus saith thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the travail that hath befallen us:
