And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Beth–el, and pitched his tent, having Beth–el on the west, and Ha´i on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the Lord, and called upon the name of the Lord.


The men of Michmas, a hundred twenty and two.


The children of Nebo, fifty and two.


The men of the other Nebo, fifty and two.


Howl, O Heshbon, for A´i is spoiled: cry, ye daughters of Rabbah, gird you with sackcloth; lament, and run to and fro by the hedges; for their king shall go into captivity, and his priests and his princes together.


when they had sent unto the house of God Shere´zer and Re´gem–me´lech, and their men, to pray before the Lord,


And Joshua sent men from Jericho to A´i, which is beside Beth–a´ven, on the east side of Beth–el, and spake unto them, saying, Go up and view the country. And the men went up and viewed A´i.


And there was not a man left in A´i or Beth–el, that went not out after Israel: and they left the city open, and pursued after Israel.


Joshua therefore sent them forth; and they went to lie in ambush, and abode between Beth–el and A´i, on the west side of A´i: but Joshua lodged that night among the people.
