And when king David came to Bahu´rim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shim´e-i, the son of Gera: he came forth, and cursed still as he came.


And, behold, thou hast with thee Shim´e-i the son of Gera, a Benjamite of Bahu´rim, which cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahana´im: but he came down to meet me at Jordan, and I sware to him by the Lord, saying, I will not put thee to death with the sword.


Now therefore hold him not guiltless: for thou art a wise man, and knowest what thou oughtest to do unto him; but his hoar head bring thou down to the grave with blood.


For if ye turn again unto the Lord, your brethren and your children shall find compassion before them that lead them captive, so that they shall come again into this land: for the Lord your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him.


This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.


For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper.


But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, long-suffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.


If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;


And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,


Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and curse not the rich in thy bedchamber: for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter.


And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the Lord because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them.


When thou dost lend thy brother any thing, thou shalt not go into his house to fetch his pledge.
