And Joshua discomfited Am´alek and his people with the edge of the sword.


Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:


And Moses rose up, and his minister Joshua; and Moses went up into the mount of God.


And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp; but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.


And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.


And the Lord said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.


And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.


And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them.


These are the names of the men which Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Oshe´a the son of Nun, Jehosh´u-a.


Of the tribe of E´phra-im, Oshe´a the son of Nun.


And the Lord said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;


Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Joshua into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David;


And Moses came and spake all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he, and Hoshe´a the son of Nun.


For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.


And the Lord said unto Joshua, Stretch out the spear that is in thy hand toward A´i; for I will give it into thine hand. And Joshua stretched out the spear that he had in his hand toward the city.


So Joshua arose, and all the people of war, to go up against A´i: and Joshua chose out thirty thousand mighty men of valor, and sent them away by night.
