And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:


And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.


In the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel, and set me upon a very high mountain, by which was as the frame of a city on the south.


and from Bamoth in the valley, that is in the country of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looketh toward Jeshi´mon.


And he brought him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.


And the Lord said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Ab´arim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel.


And they removed from Al´mon–diblatha´im, and pitched in the mountains of Ab´arim, before Nebo.


Get thee up into the top of Pisgah, and lift up thine eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and behold it with thine eyes: for thou shalt not go over this Jordan.


Get thee up into this mountain Ab´arim, unto mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, that is over against Jericho; and behold the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel for a possession:


Yet thou shalt see the land before thee; but thou shalt not go thither unto the land which I give the children of Israel.


And the Lord said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.


And the coast of the children of Dan went out too little for them: therefore the children of Dan went up to fight against Leshem, and took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and possessed it, and dwelt therein, and called Leshem, Dan, after the name of Dan their father.


And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manas´seh returned, and departed from the children of Israel out of Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan, to go unto the country of Gil´e-ad, to the land of their possession, whereof they were possessed, according to the word of the Lord by the hand of Moses.


And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,


And they called the name of the city Dan, after the name of Dan their father, who was born unto Israel: howbeit the name of the city was La´ish at the first.
