And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran: and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.


And they arose out of Mid´i-an, and came to Paran: and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt, unto Pharaoh king of Egypt; which gave him a house, and appointed him victuals, and gave him land.


God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise.


And the children of Israel took their journeys out of the wilderness of Si´nai; and the cloud rested in the wilderness of Paran.


And the people journeyed from Kib´roth–hatta´avah unto Haze´roth; and abode at Haze´roth.


And afterward the people removed from Haze´roth, and pitched in the wilderness of Paran.


And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land.


And Moses by the commandment of the Lord sent them from the wilderness of Paran: all those men were heads of the children of Israel.


for we will not inherit with them on yonder side Jordan, or forward; because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side Jordan eastward.


We will pass over armed before the Lord into the land of Canaan, that the possession of our inheritance on this side Jordan may be ours.


wherefore, said they, if we have found grace in thy sight, let this land be given unto thy servants for a possession, and bring us not over Jordan.


And they departed from Rim´mon–pa´rez, and pitched in Libnah.


And they removed from Libnah, and pitched at Rissah.


the two tribes and the half tribe have received their inheritance on this side Jordan near Jericho eastward, toward the sunrising.


Ye shall give three cities on this side Jordan, and three cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan, which shall be cities of refuge.


And when we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, which dwelt in Se´ir, through the way of the plain from Elath, and from E´zi-on–ge´ber, we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.


And Moses with the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep all the commandments which I command you this day.


These are the words of the covenant, which the Lord commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.


And Moses went and spake these words unto all Israel.


And he said, The Lord came from Si´nai, and rose up from Se´ir unto them; he shined forth from mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of saints: from his right hand went a fiery law for them.


on this side Jordan, in the valley over against Beth–pe´or, in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon, whom Moses and the children of Israel smote, after they were come forth out of Egypt:


And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep and do them.


And now the Lord your God hath given rest unto your brethren, as he promised them: therefore now return ye, and get you unto your tents, and unto the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave you on the other side Jordan.


Now to the one half of the tribe of Manas´seh Moses had given possession in Bashan: but unto the other half thereof gave Joshua among their brethren on this side Jordan westward. And when Joshua sent them away also unto their tents, then he blessed them,


that the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon a heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zar´etan; and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho.


And it came to pass, when all the kings which were on this side Jordan, in the hills, and in the valleys, and in all the coasts of the great sea over against Lebanon, the Hittite, and the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Per´izzite, the Hivite, and the Jeb´usite, heard thereof;


and all that he did to the two kings of the Amorites, that were beyond Jordan, to Sihon king of Heshbon, and to Og king of Bashan, which was at Ash´taroth.


And Samuel died; and all the Israelites were gathered together, and lamented him, and buried him in his house at Ramah. And David arose, and went down to the wilderness of Paran.
