So he departed thence, and found Eli´sha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Eli´jah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.


And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said unto his neighbor in the word of the Lord, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man refused to smite him.


And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Eli´jah doth rest on Eli´sha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.


And the sons of the prophets that were at Beth–el came forth to Eli´sha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Lord will take away thy master from thy head today? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.


And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Eli´sha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Lord will take away thy master from thy head today? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.


And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan.


And Eli´sha came again to Gilgal: and there was a dearth in the land; and the sons of the prophets were sitting before him: and he said unto his servant, Set on the great pot, and seethe pottage for the sons of the prophets.


And the sons of the prophets said unto Eli´sha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us.


And at that time Hana´ni the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the Lord thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thine hand.


And Jehu the son of Hana´ni the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehosh´aphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the Lord? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the Lord.


Now the rest of the acts of Jehosh´aphat, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Jehu the son of Hana´ni, who is mentioned in the book of the kings of Israel.

The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Teko´a, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzzi´ah king of Judah, and in the days of Jerobo´am the son of Jo´ash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.


The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord God hath spoken, who can but prophesy?


but he shall say, I am no prophet, I am a husbandman; for man taught me to keep cattle from my youth.


but God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;


And it came to pass, when all that knew him beforetime saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another, What is this that is come unto the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?
