said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people; and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:


And when it was told me how that the Jews laid wait for the man, I sent straightway to thee, and gave commandment to his accusers also to say before thee what they had against him. Farewell.


I will hear thee, said he, when thine accusers are also come. And he commanded him to be kept in Herod's judgment hall.


But the chief captain Lys´i-as came upon us, and with great violence took him away out of our hands,


And the Jews also assented, saying that these things were so.
