When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.


When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gab´batha.


Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.


But the Jews stirred up the devout and honorable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.


which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.


But El´ymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.


And there came thither certain Jews from An´ti-och and Ico´ni-um, who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.


But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.


But when the Jews of Thessaloni´ca had knowledge that the word of God was preached of Paul at Beroe´a, they came thither also, and stirred up the people.


But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.


And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.


And when he was disposed to pass into Achai´a, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace:


After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedo´nia and Achai´a, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome.


Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar's judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.


For it hath pleased them of Macedo´nia and Achai´a to make a certain contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem.


Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Salute my well-beloved Epe´netus, who is the firstfruits of Achai´a unto Christ.


I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Steph´anas, that it is the firstfruits of Achai´a, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)


Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achai´a:


As the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall stop me of this boasting in the regions of Achai´a.


in journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;


for I know the forwardness of your mind, for which I boast of you to them of Macedo´nia, that Achai´a was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath provoked very many.


For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:


forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins always: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.


But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?
