Therefore he said unto his servants, See, Jo´ab's field is near mine, and he hath barley there; go and set it on fire. And Ab´salom's servants set the field on fire.


And ten young men that bare Jo´ab's armor compassed about and smote Ab´salom, and slew him.


And the king commanded Jo´ab and Ab´ishai and It´tai, saying, Deal gently for my sake with the young man, even with Ab´salom. And all the people heard when the king gave all the captains charge concerning Ab´salom.


And it was told Jo´ab, Behold, the king weepeth and mourneth for Ab´salom.


And king David sent to Zadok and to Abi´athar the priests, saying, Speak unto the elders of Judah, saying, Why are ye the last to bring the king back to his house? seeing the speech of all Israel is come to the king, even to his house.
