And David comforted Bath–she´ba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the Lord loved him.


And Jo´ab fought against Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and took the royal city.


And it came to pass that night, that the word of the Lord came unto Nathan, saying,


Wherefore Nathan spake unto Bath–she´ba the mother of Solomon, saying, Hast thou not heard that Adoni´jah the son of Haggith doth reign, and David our lord knoweth it not?


And they told the king, saying, Behold Nathan the prophet. And when he was come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.


But Zadok the priest, and Benai´ah the son of Jehoi´ada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shim´e-i, and Re´i, and the mighty men which belonged to David, were not with Adoni´jah.


and Azari´ah the son of Nathan was over the officers: and Zabud the son of Nathan was principal officer, and the king's friend:


Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days.


And these were born unto him in Jerusalem; Shim´e-a, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon, four, of Bath–shu´a the daughter of Am´mi-el:


Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did outlandish women cause to sin.


While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.


and lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.


And of Benjamin he said, The beloved of the Lord shall dwell in safety by him; and the Lord shall cover him all the day long, and he shall dwell between his shoulders.
