And Zimri went in and smote him, and killed him, in the twenty and seventh year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned in his stead.


And it came to pass, when Zimri saw that the city was taken, that he went into the palace of the king's house, and burnt the king's house over him with fire, and died,


And the Lord said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Haz´a-el to be king over Syria:


But Pekah the son of Remali´ah, a captain of his, conspired against him, and smote him in Samaria, in the palace of the king's house, with Argob and A´ri-eh, and with him fifty men of the Gil´e-adites: and he killed him, and reigned in his room.


And Hoshe´a the son of Elah made a conspiracy against Pekah the son of Remali´ah, and smote him, and slew him, and reigned in his stead, in the twentieth year of Jotham the son of Uzzi´ah.


And Eli´sha said unto him, Go, say unto him, Thou mayest certainly recover: howbeit the Lord hath showed me that he shall surely die.


And Haz´a-el said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Eli´sha answered, The Lord hath showed me that thou shalt be king over Syria.


And he went with Joram the son of Ahab to the war against Haz´a-el king of Syria in Ra´moth–gil´e-ad; and the Syrians wounded Joram.


And Jehu drew a bow with his full strength, and smote Jeho´ram between his arms, and the arrow went out at his heart, and he sunk down in his chariot.


He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good; he abhorreth not evil.


Woe to thee that spoilest, and thou wast not spoiled; and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! when thou shalt cease to spoil, thou shalt be spoiled; and when thou shalt make an end to deal treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee.


Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand.


As saith the proverb of the ancients, Wickedness proceedeth from the wicked: but mine hand shall not be upon thee.
