And David said to Jo´ab, and to all the people that were with him, Rend your clothes, and gird you with sackcloth, and mourn before Abner. And king David himself followed the bier.


But the word of God came unto Shemai´ah the man of God, saying,


And the woman said to Eli´jah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in thy mouth is truth.


And they said unto him, There came a man up to meet us, and said unto us, Go, turn again unto the king that sent you, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to inquire of Ba-al´–zebub the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.


And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing of thy servant.


And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy.


And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? Wherefore consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me.


So Na´aman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Eli´sha.


And all these thy servants shall come down unto me, and bow down themselves unto me, saying, Get thee out, and all the people that follow thee: and after that I will go out. And he went out from Pharaoh in a great anger.


And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.


And by a prophet the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.


For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:


And he said unto him, Behold now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honorable man; all that he saith cometh surely to pass: now let us go thither; peradventure he can show us our way that we should go.
