So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel, and found Ab´ishag a Shu´nammite, and brought her to the king.


And Eli´jah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him unto his mother: and Eli´jah said, See, thy son liveth.


Then he returned, and walked in the house to and fro; and went up, and stretched himself upon him: and the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes.


Then she went in, and fell at his feet, and bowed herself to the ground, and took up her son, and went out.


Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.


Then spake Eli´sha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for the Lord hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.


And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.


Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
