And Jeho´ash king of Israel took Amazi´ah king of Judah, the son of Jeho´ash the son of Ahazi´ah, at Beth–she´mesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of E´phra-im unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.


And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire.


that our oxen may be strong to labor; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets.


O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.


And the Chalde´ans burned the king's house, and the houses of the people, with fire, and brake down the walls of Jerusalem.


Go ye up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end: take away her battlements; for they are not the Lord's.


And it came to pass in the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, that one that had escaped out of Jerusalem came unto me, saying, The city is smitten.


and he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy land, until thou be destroyed: which also shall not leave thee either corn, wine, or oil, or the increase of thy kine, or flocks of thy sheep, until he have destroyed thee.
