And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.


Jehoi´achin was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. And his mother's name was Nehush´ta, the daughter of Elna´than of Jerusalem.


But the captain of the guard left of the poor of the land to be vinedressers and husbandmen.


and the king of Babylon smote them, and slew them at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was carried away out of their land.


And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoi´achin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, that Evil–mer´odach king of Babylon in the year that he began to reign did lift up the head of Jehoi´achin king of Judah out of prison;


So all Israel were reckoned by genealogies; and, behold, they were written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah, who were carried away to Babylon for their transgression.


And when the year was expired, king Nebuchadnez´zar sent, and brought him to Babylon, with the goodly vessels of the house of the Lord, and made Zedeki´ah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.


Now in Shushan the palace there was a certain Jew, whose name was Mor´decai, the son of Ja´ir, the son of Shim´e-i, the son of Kish, a Benjamite;


who had been carried away from Jerusalem with the captivity which had been carried away with Jeconi´ah king of Judah, whom Nebuchadnez´zar the king of Babylon had carried away.


Say unto the king and to the queen, Humble yourselves, sit down: for your principalities shall come down, even the crown of your glory.


(after that Jeconi´ah the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the carpenters, and the smiths, were departed from Jerusalem;)


This is the people whom Nebuchadrez´zar carried away captive: in the seventh year three thousand Jews and three and twenty:


Say now to the rebellious house, Know ye not what these things mean? tell them, Behold, the king of Babylon is come to Jerusalem, and hath taken the king thereof, and the princes thereof, and led them with him to Babylon;


and hath taken of the king's seed, and made a covenant with him, and hath taken an oath of him: he hath also taken the mighty of the land:


and say, Thus saith the Lord God; A great eagle with great wings, long-winged, full of feathers, which had divers colors, came unto Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar:


And they put him in ward in chains, and brought him to the king of Babylon: they brought him into holds, that his voice should no more be heard upon the mountains of Israel.


And the king spake unto Ash´penaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king's seed, and of the princes;
