And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Eli´jah doth rest on Eli´sha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.


And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Eli´sha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Lord will take away thy master from thy head today? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.


And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan.

And he said, All is well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now there be come to me from mount E´phra-im two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments.


And the sons of the prophets said unto Eli´sha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us.


And Eli´sha the prophet called one of the children of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take this box of oil in thine hand, and go to Ra´moth–gil´e-ad:


Behold, I and the children whom the Lord hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the Lord of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.


Then answered Amos, and said to Amazi´ah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was a herdman, and a gatherer of sycamore fruit:


I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cili´cia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gama´li-el, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day.


Yea, he loved the people; all his saints are in thy hand: and they sat down at thy feet; every one shall receive of thy words.


After that thou shalt come to the hill of God, where is the garrison of the Philistines: and it shall come to pass, when thou art come thither to the city, that thou shalt meet a company of prophets coming down from the high place with a psaltery, and a tabret, and a pipe, and a harp, before them; and they shall prophesy:


And Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God was upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.
