Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.


and having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.


And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.


For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you.


Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him.


how that in a great trial of affliction, the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.


Wherefore show ye to them, and before the churches, the proof of your love, and of our boasting on your behalf.


thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.


who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end;


And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.


Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling:


But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.


And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.


Having confidence in thy obedience I wrote unto thee, knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say.
