But as for the children of Israel which dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehobo´am reigned over them.


And Ba´asha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.


And there came a man from Ba´al–shali´sha, and brought the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley, and full ears of corn in the husk thereof. And he said, Give unto the people, that they may eat.


And in every several city he put shields and spears, and made them exceeding strong, having Judah and Benjamin on his side.


For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jerobo´am and his sons had cast them off from executing the priest's office unto the Lord:


In the six and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa, Ba´asha king of Israel came up against Judah, and built Ramah, to the intent that he might let none go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.


And they went about in Judah, and gathered the Levites out of all the cities of Judah, and the chief of the fathers of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem.


And Hezeki´ah sent to all Israel and Judah, and wrote letters also to E´phra-im and Manas´seh, that they should come to the house of the Lord at Jerusalem, to keep the passover unto the Lord God of Israel.


But since ye say, The burden of the Lord; therefore thus saith the Lord; Because ye say this word, The burden of the Lord, and I have sent unto you, saying, Ye shall not say, The burden of the Lord;


Take heed to thyself that thou forsake not the Levite as long as thou livest upon the earth.


Notwithstanding, if the land of your possession be unclean, then pass ye over unto the land of the possession of the Lord, wherein the Lord's tabernacle dwelleth, and take possession among us: but rebel not against the Lord, nor rebel against us, in building you an altar besides the altar of the Lord our God.
