And he said unto her, Because I spake unto Naboth the Jez´reelite, and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee another vineyard for it: and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard.


Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and a horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.


He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.


An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed.


The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.


He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.


Labor not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.


Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!


whose possessors slay them, and hold themselves not guilty: and they that sell them say, Blessed be the Lord; for I am rich: and their own shepherds pity them not.

and said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.


Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:


and the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.


So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.


For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.


But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.


that ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;


The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the Lord thy God.


knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,


Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.


For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.


Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high-minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;


and that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.


teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;


Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff.


And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.


Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Ba´laam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Korah.
