But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jon´adab, the son of Shim´e-ah David's brother: and Jon´adab was a very subtile man.


And Jon´adab, the son of Shim´e-ah David's brother, answered and said, Let not my lord suppose that they have slain all the young men the king's sons; for Amnon only is dead: for by the appointment of Ab´salom this hath been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.


And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shim´e-ah the brother of David slew him.


And Jesse begat his firstborn Eli´ab, and Abin´adab the second, and Shimma the third,


And Eli´ab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eli´ab's anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle.
